Extreme Frequency Conversion from Soliton Resonant Interactions

چکیده

We present a metastructure architecture with bistable microstructure that enables extreme broadband frequency conversion. use numerical and experimental tools to unveil the relationship between input excitations at unit cell level output responses macrostructural level. identify soliton-lattice mode resonances resulting in input-independent energy transfer into desired metabeam vibration modes as long transition waves are triggered within metastructure. observe both low-to-high high-to-low incommensurate interactions metabeams, thus enabling exchange bands 2 orders of magnitude apart. This behavior generalizes fluxon-cavity resonance superconducting electronics, providing general method conversion mechanics. Importantly, introduced allows for expanding metamaterials design paradigm by fundamentally breaking dependence macroscopic dynamics on properties. The nature implies potential applications regulation transduction.

Resonant and Non-resonant Soliton Scattering by Impurities

The NLSE soliton scattering by impurities is considered in the framework of the one-dimensional model. The scattering intensity is characterized by the reflection coefficient. The reflection coefficient of the soliton is calculated in the Born approximation of the perturbation theory for the following cases: (i) and isolated impurity, (ii) two point impurities, and (iii) a regular or random sys...

Resonant Geometric Phases for Soliton Equations

Methods of symplectic and complex geometry have recently given important information about the phase-space geometry of nonlinear equations (see, for example, Ercolani, Forest, McLaughlin, and Montgomery [1987], Ercolani [1989], Ercolani and McLaughlin [1991]' McLaughlin and Overman [1993]). A few specific examples are as follows. From the point of view of complex geometry, the reality condition...

Theory of the soliton self-frequency shift compensation by the resonant radiationin photonic crystal fibers.

We develop a theory of the soliton self-frequency shift compensation by the resonant radiation recently observed in photonic crystal fibers. Our approach is based on the calculation of the soliton plus radiation solution of the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger (GNLS) equation and on subsequent use of the adiabatic theory leading to a system of equations governing evolution of the soliton param...

Vortex-stripe soliton interactions.

We study the interaction of an optical vortex soliton with a dark-soliton stripe in a bulk nonlinear defocusing medium. We develop a multiscale asymptotic theory to predict the main effect of the interaction and then study it experimentally, observing vortex-induced stripe bending, development of the transverse instability, and stripe breakup.
